The history of the Faculty of Tourism goes back to the School of Tourism and Hotel Management, which was founded in 2005. The School of Tourism and Hotel Management was established on 21st June, 2005 as affiliated to Erciyes University. Prof. Dr. Kurtuluş Karamustafa was appointed as the director on 22nd August, 2006, and the faculty started education in the 2006-2007 Academic Year with a daytime education program. The School of Tourism and Hotel Management was closed upon the Council of Ministers Decision published in the Official Gazette dated 25th April, 2013 and numbered 28628 and converted to the Faculty of Tourism. Benefactor Tuncer Hasçalık, the owner of Hasçalık Construction Company, had the Faculty (formerly the School) with a closed area of approximately 4,500 m2 built in 2009, and hence the names of the couple were granted to the building.
